Job Description

Job Objective / Summary Conduct the strategic and operational planning for the Department and manage the implementation of actuarial consulting engagements for clients.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in applied actuarial sciences
  • Holding master’s degree in applied actuarial science is preferrable.
Professional Certificates

Passing academic requirements of the actuary certification, which includes:

  1. Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA), USA; or
  2. Associate of Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (AIA), UK.
Experience
  1. Minimum 3 years of experience in actuarial work.
  2. Minimum 10 years of experience in insurance companies.

In addition to the above, experience with actuarial consulting firms is preferrable.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Prepare the Department’s strategic plan and annual operational plan at service level and budgeting level;
  2. Assist in preparing annual promotion plan for the Department services;
  3. Develop creative copywriting of webpages related to actuarial consulting services;
  4. Prepare technical and financial proposal submitted to clients;
  5. Prepare the client engagement letters;
  6. Implement the client engagements;
  7. Review, evaluate and advise on the client’s policy for actuarial matters, procedures and controls;
  8. Prepare actuarial calculations.
  9. Review and evaluate the client’s solvency margin and financial and technical position.
  10. Review, evaluate and make recommendations regarding the client’s investment policy.
  11. Review and evaluate the validity and accuracy of data and information on issues related to the calculation of technical reserves.
  12. Review, evaluate and advise on reinsurance agreements and strategy to maintain the client’s financial position.
  13. Review and evaluate the client’s general policy regarding insurance products, in addition to designing and developing the pricing policy and reviewing the terms and conditions of insurance policies and contracts.
  14. Prepare monthly reports submitted to senior position; and
  15. Perform any other tasks that may be assigned to them by the direct manager.
Knowledge
  1. International Financial Reporting Standard 17 (IFRS 17)
  2. Law No. 125 of 2019 regarding the Regulation of Insurance and its Executive Bylaw
  3. International Standards of Actuarial Practice (ISAPs)
  4. Software used for managing insurance contracts from actuarial perspective
Technical Skills
  1. Ability to calculate the actuarial technical reserves
  2. Ability to calculate the solvency margin for insurance companies
  3. Ability to establish corporate governance systems for insurance companies
  4. Ability to prepare any other reports relating to the actuarial consulting as mandated by Insurance Regulatory Unit
